Income & Employment

Rising Nomads Income and Employment programs focus on preparing youth for sustainable, well-paying employment opportunities, and expanding those opportunities through partnerships and practical experience. Rising Nomads brings the same focus on voice and agency from our other programs into our work on income and employment, as well as our commitment to gender mainstreaming in all that we do.  Building on our experience working with Somali youth in the Twin Cities region of Minnesota, we plan to bring our 4H STEM education partners into our work in East Africa. By providing highly relevant, practical skills training alongside opportunities for socialization, cooperation and joint investigation, our programs give young people the opportunity to learn about engineering, plant and animal science, agriculture and environmental science, all while learning to work together across gender, clan, or socio-economic divides. By partnering with 4H and local academic institutes, Rising Nomads will be able to foster a pipeline from secondary school to employment, or onto tertiary education opportunities that further expand their earning potential and ability to contribute to rebuilding infrastructure, industry and agriculture in East Africa.
